BCPF Spring Raffle

Help us raise needed funds for our provincial non-profit society – spring into summer with us! All proceeds raised from our spring raffle directly support our education, advocacy, and human rights projects across BC. As part of the international People First movement, we are the independent voice of Self-Advocates in British Columbia.

Click HERE to purchase online raffle tickets and you could win a brand new bicycle from Denman Bike Shop, valued at $600 or 1 of 2 $100 Canadian Tire gift cards. (You must currently be in BC to purchase tickets). Thank you so much for your support and for sharing the raffle info with your friends and family!

Your support goes a long way! We work to make sure that people with developmental and intellectual disabilities are respected and included in communities as full citizens. We do this by supporting each other to speak up for ourselves and others. Our vision is a diverse community where all people are: included and involved; honoured and respected; seen for their abilities, and supported to participate.

For over 40 years, BC People First has been the provincial voice of those who have been labelled with a developmental disability. People First was formed because some of the people in our communities felt that they were not considered as people first. They felt that they were talked about, talked to, thought about, and treated according to the disabilities that others labelled them with.

BC People First continues to advocate “Nothing about US, Without US” through workshops, presentations, letter-writing campaigns, public speaking, community engagement, and the empowerment of Self-Advocates across the province. We are a strong, independent society that is run BY people who have been labelled FOR people who have been labelled.

On behalf of the Board of Directors and all of our BCPF Members, thank you for participating in our online raffle and good luck! If you’d like to donate or sponsor one of our events in the future, please get in touch with us any time.

We’re In This Together Tuesdays

Calling all Self-Advocates in British Columbia – you’re invited! Join us for BC Self-Advocate virtual video meetings on Tuesdays from 7pm – 8pm.

To register for one or more of these Tuesday night video meetings, please click HERE. These meetings are a place for self-advocates from across BC to discuss issues that matter to us. Join us on Zoom to connect, learn with us, share stories and concerns, and ask questions!

You do not need to be a BC People First Member to attend these calls but we encourage all self-advocates and people who feel labelled by their disability to become members. Help us grow the People First movement in BC! Membership is free. Click HERE to find out more information about becoming a BCPF Member or click HERE to fill out our online BCPF Membership form.
