Helping Young Adults Procure Employment (HYPE) program recently collaborated to create a unique series of employment workshops to help youth currently enrolled in the program find work.

NIEFS is the local Employment Program of BC provider in Campbell River. CRDACL’s HYPE program focuses on preparing young adults who are eligible for Community Living BC supports to get ready for employment after graduation.

The five-week program, in a supportive learning environment that was tailored to the needs of the youth, helped participants learn about job search skills, including building a resume, how to talk to employers, labour market information, identifying their skills and strengths, and how to prepare for interviews.

The collaboration was a success, benefiting everyone involved by bringing together NIEFS’ knowledge about important job search skills and the local labour market, and HYPE’s expertise in providing personal support to participants so they could maximize the benefits of attending the workshops.

Youth completed the five-week series understanding they have skills and talents employers are looking for, and with greater confidence in how they can best market these skills and talents to potential employers.
