Happy Fall one and all!
I hope everyone is enjoying watching the leaves turn into such beautiful colors and have been having fun deciding what costume to wear for Halloween night.
If you need ideas on what to do this Halloween you have come to the right place. Everything planned for Halloween in Mission and Abbotsford BC is listed here along with accessibility guidelines for each event. In Mission there will be 2 main events:
Firstly, there is the very anticipated Haunted Attraction “River’s Edge Knight’s Terror” at Mission Raceway Park. It is $13 per person and I hear it’s extremely scary so be warned! No children under 8 will be admitted and if you scare easily I would suggest skipping it. It’s on from 7pm to 10pm on Oct 30th and Oct 31st. The attraction itself is accessible but be advised the parking lot is unpaved making it difficult for wheelchairs and mobility concerns.
Secondly in Mission there is Trick or Treating Downtown on 1st Avenue, Railway Street, 2nd Avenue and side streets. It starts at 3pm sharp and runs until 5pm or until all candy is gone. The sidewalks of Downtown Mission have been upgraded since last Halloween, which will make it easier for all with mobility issues to more easily navigate the downtown core.
The newly designed sidewalks slow traffic down and include benches if you need a rest on your candy hunt.
CANDY HUNTING TIP #1: Mission will also be giving out more candy at The Junction Mall (only for children in costume!)
In Abbotsford, there will be 3 main events this year:
Abbotsford is in for a really great Halloween Night as Highstreet Mall welcomes all to a wonderful night spine-chilling fun featuring live spooky music DJ, photo booth, crafts, balloon artists and lots more. From 5pm to 7pm you can walk around the entire upper mall and trick or treat at 8 beautifully decorated installations. It’s fun for all–ages and it’s accessible to all. Great staff assures people of all abilities are treated fairly and are helped out if needed.
CANDY HUNTING TIP 2: If Highstreet doesn’t cure your candy cravings you can also trick or treat at Sevenoaks Mall from 3pm to 4pm (kids under 10 only) and in downtown Abbotsford from 1pm to 4:30pm (includes free face painting and over 40 candy stops for kids only)
With so much to do Thursday night, it will take some careful planning, bright safe costumes with reflectors, and a willingness for candy and fun. If you have read this article and your costume is ready, you will finally be ready for a safe, fun, candy-filled Halloween for people of all abilities. Enjoy!
