Imagine being given the opportunity to meet major sports stars.
Well, I have been lucky enough to have met two of my personal sports heroes, Wayne Gretzky and Pat Quinn.
Through the Canadian National Institute for the Blind I was offered the chance to meet Wayne Gretzky, or as well know him, The Great One.
My mom and Dad cancelled their trip to Reno for me to have the opportunity to meet him.
I was ten years old when I met Gretzky with another person who was sight impaired and we both got his book presented to us in braille. It took up 3 volumes unlike a book in print.
Some of my family were also with me when I met number 99. I was so excited when I was given the chance to meet Wayne Gretzky personally.
There are not many people who are lucky enough to get to meet someone like that.
He is a very nice person. It was one opportunity that I will never forget.
When I got the chance to meet Pat Quinn it happened differently.
When I was a young kid I got to go to a lot of Canucks games and I also always enjoyed writing letters to Mr. Quinn, their general manager.
Eventually he agreed to meet me! It made me feel excited and really happy.
This was something that I did not think would ever happen but when it did it was so neat.
If I did not have a sight impairment I would have been a hockey player myself and that is why I look up each to these two sports stars.
It was great to be able to meet two hockey legends, Wayne Gretzky and Pat Quinn. How would you feel if you got to meet sports stars like that?
