The Province is helping a non-profit society improve the affordability of their Surrey housing development by providing $75,000 per year over a 10-year period.
The development is Chorus Apartments, an affordable rental housing complex for people with low to moderate incomes and people with disabilities. The Semiahmoo House Society developed the Chorus Apartments in partnership with BC Housing.
Tenants moved into the 71-unit development in fall 2016.
The Province has been working with the non-profit for several years to build and operate the Chorus Apartments, including a capital grant of $1.1 million toward the project.
The Semiahmoo House Society is a non-profit organization in Surrey/White Rock that provides services and support to people with disabilities and their families, helping them live self-directed lives in the community.
Applicants for subsidized housing programs are prioritized on a case-by-case basis. Several factors are considered including income and current housing situation.
