This is a story about Jen Roberge and the life journey and adventure that she is on.
It all started when I was 6 months old, I started having seizures and my parents did not know what was going on with me. After seeing my doctor, I was flown to Vancouver Children’s Hospital. There they ran a whole bunch of tests to figure out what was going on with my health. This is when they found out that I had a seizure disorder.
The doctors diagnosed me with having Tuberous Sclerosis, which gave me a learning disability as well as heart problems.
My parents were told that I was not going to live past the age of 3, and then 7 and even 30. I beat all of those ages. At the age of 12 I had to go live in a foster home due to my parents being unable to look after me. I was so upset that I could not live with my family anymore. But it turned out to be very good for me in the end.
I was told that I would never have a job, get married or even live on my own. Anyone that thought that, boy, they were wrong big time! I am now thirty one years old and I have been married since 2011. I have a job working at Pet Treat Bakery making dog treats and have been working there for over two years now. It feels so good to work and make some money and I would never give it up. Plus, I love pets! Do you love pets?
At the age of 17 a wish came true for me. I got to go to Disneyland for a week, with Make a Wish Foundation. This was a trip that I never thought I would get to go on. The things I got to do were: go on rides and meet the characters from the Disney movies. When I was on this trip I also got to go to SeaWorld and feed the dolphins. Have you ever been to Disneyland or SeaWorld?
Due to my situation I am unable to have children, even though I always wanted them.
I thank God for the wonderful life I have.
