Mission Fest is a free outdoor celebration of community inclusion spanning 3 blocks of Mission’s historic First Avenue. This celebration transforms First Avenue into a family friendly party where there is something for everyone to appreciate, including martial arts demonstrations, a farmer’s market, great food, a petting zoo and pony rides. All of this fun was diversified with great community programs and initiatives that came ready to serve and help others.

On the first block, Mission Raceway presented “Raging Race Cars”. This was a showcase of the finest award-winning drag race cars throughout B.C. Mini and full-sized drag cars were proudly shown alongside a vast array of trophies.

On the following block “The Family Fun Zone” boasted 8 premium bouncy castles. There was even one called “Alcatraz” that could also be enjoyed by adults!

The concluding west-end block was titled “Celebration of Community” and included great organizations from Mission who are always determined to make a difference to the community, province and beyond.

Cycling 4 Diversity’s Ken Herar was in a dunk tank to raise awareness about cultural diversity, Special Olympics gold-medalist Bryce Schaufelberger spoke on the inclusion of people of all abilities and Centennial Place expressed their commitment of bettering the lives of others through mental wellness.

Finally, “The Rockin’ River Stage” at the festival’s west-end featured 7 first-rate acts. Topaz, Rainshadow, Merv Trembly, Patsy Thompson and Val Vupuis all took to the stage showing excellent musical skill. Rockin’ River festival organizer Kenny Hess then gave a great country performance and Sweet Max closed the festivities with classic rock favorites.
