The Namaste Friday Music Event

unnamedNamaste Music started in Victoria 1996 by professional musician and music therapist Scott White.

Now, 20 years later, it has grown in to a large event that attracts hundreds of singers, dancers and an audience every week.  Four professional musicians (Calvin Cairns,Joey SmithDon Leppard and Devon Macafertyplay backup for anyone who is interested in going on stage and singing.

I love going on Fridays to hang out with my friends and to sing on the stage.

It’s fun watching how people come out of their shell.  People are not afraid of having fun and to cut loose.

I’ve learned that it is okay not to be shy and to go on the stage and sing.

When I first went to Namaste I was shy because I did not know anybody there.

Now I know many people that go there and Namaste has become the highlight of my week.

Namaste is the most fun you could ever have.  You are free to sing or dance or talk.

If you are shy about singing, don’t worry about it because you have lots of support on the stage from everyone.

Close to the end there of the session is a parade through the audience.  Someone has a big drum and the audience is asked to bang on the drum.  People are also singing during this parade.

Namaste is never the same because it is so much fun.  I am always so excited about going back the next week again.
