Successful Goals- Filing My Own Taxes Since 2013

Written By: Ashley-Nicole Cox
Tax season is either an exciting time for some, or a complete nightmare for others. I found it annoying until I decided to try and take it into my own hands and attempt to do taxes on my own.
For the longest time I have always dreaded doing my taxes, and needed to look up free community services that file taxes. I did not have faith in myself to do it independently and correctly. While these services are helpful, they require a lot of patience: waiting for the right time slot and location to open up, waiting in line, and waiting for the accountant to complete it. After trying numerous ones I grew tired of the search for the right fit for me to file with.
I went and researched how to file on my own and found a website called Simple Tax that makes it easier to enter and submit them 100% independently and also keep track of previous files.
Seeing how easy it was to file and get my return sooner than other methods was a great reward after bad experiences and it doesn’t require paying someone to do it for you or waiting for a free service to be available.
Since 2013 I have done my taxes on my own, removing the need to have another person do it for me.
This independence was refreshing and changed my outlook on taxes from dread to enjoyment with this simplified way to file.
I would recommend it for anyone who hates sitting and waiting for things to be done.
